The older I get, the more I notice how important it is to have (and protect!) these pockets of time. Somehow, the things that demand your attention get more and more.
Cecilia and I had to compress the surface area to find the same window, protecting it once we had it was the easy part. negotiating which obligations to let go to create it was the harder work
This is happening with me right now. Before I had all the time (or atleast that’s what I thought) but now as life is moving forward it humbles me. The difference between my dreams and present is the reality that needs consistent efforts.
My husband and I do something similar. Every morning. Coffee in our library by the front window. And when I write my daily gratitudes, this morning ritual often lands on the list. I love that you have this time together – so worth protecting!
